Medical weight loss · Westerly, RI

Weight loss with a medical plan — and a person in your corner

If willpower alone worked, you wouldn't be reading this. Our medical weight loss program starts with a real evaluation — weight, waistline, history, and goals — then builds a customized plan with the tools that fit you, including GLP-1/GIP medication when it's clinically appropriate.

You get education and training at every step, so you understand what you're taking, why it works, and how to keep the weight off.

  • Safety first. Medication decisions are made after an evaluation, with ongoing monitoring — watch our videos in Health and Wellness Library.
  • More than a prescription. Appetite support, vitamin therapy, Bio Boost, and dietary guidance round out your plan.
  • Built to last. We focus on habits and health markers, not just the scale.

Hormone replacement therapy

Your hormones changed. Your quality of life doesn't have to.

A middle-aged couple in their late 40s and early 50s — a man and a woman — sitting together in a bright exam room, talking with their doctor about hormone therapy

WomenPerimenopause can begin in your 40s — sometimes earlier — and you do not have to wait until your periods stop to get help. There is no age limit on being evaluated: whether you're 42 or 72, if symptoms are disrupting your life, they deserve treatment. Hot flashes, broken sleep, brain fog, mood swings, and vanished energy are not things you just have to live with.

Women's hormone care at Seaside is complete hormone care: estrogen and progesterone plus testosterone — a hormone women need too, for desire, energy, mood, and mental clarity. Balanced hormones can help you:

  • Sleep, mood & memory. Sleep through the night, feel steadier day to day, and think clearly again — less brain fog, more of you.
  • Urogenital health. Less dryness and irritation, fewer urinary symptoms, and more comfortable, less painful intimacy.
  • Long-term protection. Hormone therapy supports bone density — helping guard against osteoporosis — and supports cardiovascular health, with the greatest benefit when started earlier in the transition.

MenDeclining testosterone can drain strength, focus, motivation, and libido — and it often creeps up so gradually that men assume it's just aging. HRT, sometimes paired with peptide therapy, is designed to restore what low testosterone takes away. Balanced testosterone can help you:

  • Low drive & libido. Restore interest in intimacy — bring back desire and feel more like yourself again.
  • Energy & motivation. Steadier energy through the day, less fatigue, and more get-up-and-go for work, family, and the things you enjoy.
  • Strength & stamina. Support muscle and strength, recover better after activity, and keep up physically.
  • Focus & mood. Sharper thinking, clearer focus, and a steadier mood day to day.

Either way, treatment starts with listening. We review your symptoms and history, then decide together whether hormone therapy is right for you.

Common questions

Before you call

No. The public is welcome for weight loss and hormone replacement services — you don't need to be an established primary care patient to book an evaluation.

Your visit starts with a full evaluation: weight and waist measurements, medical history, and a conversation about your goals. From there, Dr. Furtado builds a customized plan that may include prescription medication such as GLP-1/GIP therapy, appetite support, vitamin therapy, and dietary guidance — with education and training so you understand every step.

Yes. When clinically appropriate after an evaluation, GLP-1 and GIP-based medications are among the tools in our programs, alongside nutrition guidance and ongoing monitoring for safety.

Yes — hormone therapy is the most effective treatment for menopause symptoms. It can relieve hot flashes and night sweats, improve sleep, steady mood, clear brain fog, and restore energy. It also supports urogenital health, helps protect bones against osteoporosis, and supports cardiovascular health — especially when started earlier in the transition. Treatment is individualized after an evaluation.

Yes. Perimenopause — the years before your final period, often starting in your 40s — is exactly when many women benefit most, and you do not have to wait until your periods stop. There is no strict age limit on hormone therapy at Seaside: your symptoms, labs, and health history guide the decision, not your birth year. Women well past menopause can also be evaluated.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

Yes. Women produce testosterone too, and levels fall with age — often starting in perimenopause. Low testosterone in women is linked to low desire, low energy, mood changes, and mental fog. When an evaluation shows it's appropriate, testosterone is part of complete hormone care for women at Seaside, alongside estrogen and progesterone.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

Yes. As estrogen falls, the tissues of the vagina, vulva, and urinary tract thin and dry out — a condition called genitourinary syndrome of menopause. It causes dryness, irritation, urinary urgency and infections, and pain with intimacy. Hormone therapy supports these tissues and can make intimacy comfortable again. These symptoms are common, treatable, and nothing to be embarrassed about — please ask.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

For men with low testosterone, hormone replacement can help restore energy, vitality, focus, and libido. Peptide therapy may also be part of a men's hormone optimization plan.

We're at 27 East Ave, Westerly, RI 02891. Book an Appointment online or call (401) 500-0996. Existing patients can also use the Patient Portal.

Common symptoms men ask about include ongoing fatigue, low sex drive, reduced muscle mass or increased belly fat, brain fog, mood changes, and poor sleep. Only lab testing can confirm low testosterone — it can't be diagnosed from symptoms alone. If these sound familiar, a visit and blood work is the starting point.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

Cost depends on the treatment plan and whether insurance helps with parts of it. We always give you the full cost before anything is prescribed. Call (401) 500-0996 for current pricing.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

TRT is a hormone treatment, not a weight-loss drug. Some men on appropriately managed testosterone therapy find it easier to stay active and build muscle, which can support weight goals — but weight management needs its own plan. This is a medical decision to make with your clinician.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

It depends on the form of therapy and your health plan; we quote it upfront before anything is prescribed. Call (401) 500-0996 for current pricing.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

“Bioidentical” hormones are a type of HRT, not a separate category — the term usually means hormones chemically identical to the body's own. Safety depends on the patient, the dose, and monitoring, not the label. A clinician visit is the right place to weigh the options for your health history.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

It starts with a visit: a review of your symptoms and health history, blood work, then a treatment plan if appropriate. Call (401) 500-0996 to schedule at our Westerly office, 27 East Ave.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.

Semaglutide is a medical treatment, not a one-time fix. Many people regain weight if they stop without a maintenance plan — that's why we build a long-term plan with every patient: medication, nutrition, and follow-up visits. Your clinician can explain the options at a visit.

These answers are general information, not medical advice.
